Guess you heard about REM calling it quits? Surprised it hadnt happened before. I expect pretty much the only interesting future things to come from Buck as usual

The only time I saw R.E.M. live was the DAY after the 2004 presidential election, when Kerry lost to Bush. R.E.M was so active in their support of electing Kerry. I believe them and Pearl Jam and some others did a tour or something trying to get people to vote for Kerry.

Anyway, Michael Stipe is an uber liberal as are most musicians. The resulting concert was the saddest attempt to put on a show I've ever seen. The band was clearly VERY depressed and somber. Stipe barely sang the words, just kind of talking the words into the mic. The crowd energy was almost non-existent where I was sitting. I was looking forward to seeing them for the first time and I couldn't have been more let down. Unfortunately that's my last impression of them. That being said I love many of their studio albums.
